The Finnish Food Authority has expanded the core area of the African swine fever (ASF) infection zone in Lappeenranta. The core area has been extended approximately nine kilometers northeast to Rummuntie and Tervajoki in Lappeenranta. The boundaries of the infection zone will not change.

The core area is being expanded because ASF was found in a wild boar shot in Lappeenranta. The discovery indicates the active spread of the disease.
